Llanferres Badminton Club plays every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7.30 – 9.30 in Ruthin Leisure Centre.

The junior club plays on Thursday evening from 6.30 – 7.30.

Players of all abilities welcome. For further information please contact Claire.

The indoor bowling club meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings in Llanferres Village Hall.

They play short mat bowling, mostly for fun and everyone of any age is welcome to play.

The club also participates in the Clwyd Vale Indoor League where rival local villages play home and away games between the more ambitious single and doubles players.

Clwydian Range Runners are an active group of runners based in the Clwydian foothills.

We meet for training runs at 7pm on Tuesday evenings from various locations around the area and hope to promote a relaxed and enjoyable attitude towards fell and trail running.

There is something for everyone and different routes can be taken for all abilities.

County Park Painters is a small group of amateur artists who meet each Thursday morning in the Meeting Room at the Loggerheads Country Park.

The room is quite small and so numbers are restricted to a maximum of 12 artists. When a space becomes available new members are always welcomed.

Artwork is produced using different media and covers a wide range of topics. Finished works are exhibited in Loggerheads Country Park and in the Druid Inn, Llanferres. Proceeds from the sale of paintings are used to support a range of local and national charities.

The Painters were commissioned to paint the Trig Point on the summit of Moel Famau, where they chose to depict animals and birds associated with the Clwydian Range – Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn Cricket Club plays in the North Wales League competing against teams across North Wales.

During the summer season, games are played on Saturday afternoons at the Argoed sports ground near Mold.

During the closed season, players maintain their skills in the winter nets at Argoed high school.

New players of any age and level of ability are always welcome.

Llanferres Gardening Club meets in the village hall at 7.30 pm on the 2nd Monday of each month from February to November.

There are talks on a variety of gardening and related topics and a programme of talks is produced annually.  Everyone (whether a gardener or not) is welcome to come along to any of the meetings. Membership of the club is £5 a year or £1 for individual meetings.

The Club organises the Annual Village Show on the 1st Saturday in September which has been a popular village event for the last 45 years.  Anyone living in the Parish of Llanferres and members of the Gardening Club can enter their produce in the show under one of the many categories.

The Over 60’s clubs meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in Llanferres Village Hall at 2.15 p.m.

Members get together for a friendly chat with tea and cake/scones, a monthly raffle and to listen to a speaker or enjoy another form of entertainment.

Each year the club arranges and annual outing when local residents are invited to join in the fun.

The club is self-funding with members paying just £2 per meeting and only when attending.

Due to Covid-19 restriction the Club is unable to meet at the moment, however Betty will contact everyone as soon as is possible to resume meeting.

Playlist for Life is a National Charity which focuses on creating personal playlists on MP3 players to bring music to those in the community living with dementia.

The soundtracks usually include the songs and music that mark the most memorable occasions in a persons life from childhood, school and special occasions such as engagements, weddings, birthdays, holidays etc.

Music can play an important part in improving mental and emotional wellbeing, bringing fun and laughter to people sheltering during lockdown. If you or your organisation is interested in making personal playlists for someone, please contact

Tai Chi classes are held in Llanferres Village Hall on Sundays at 6.30p.m.  Everyone is welcome and the first session is free of charge.

Beginners are taught a series of moves know as ‘The Form’, breathing exercises to help relax muscles and soften the body, and Chi Kung sequences to focus on the body’s internal energy.

The more experienced are taught to use aspects of ‘The Form’ for self-defence and how to apply joint locks to neutralise opponents without hurting them unnecessarily.

More advanced students can progress to weapons training with the Tai Chi Sabre, Sword and Staff.

Classes are run by Keith Gould, supported by visiting instructors who together, have over 50 years combined experience, study and practice.
